Welcome to Michael Filipek Tennis Academy - New York, USA

Day Camp

The 2010 Michael Filipek Tennis Academy day camp will be on the campus of prestigious Wesleyan University. After three successful summers, the MFTA continues to establish itself as one of the finest tennis programs in the Northeast. Founder and director Michael Filipek will apply decades of experience and years of planning to the academy in its fourth year. The camp will consist of the following programs:

Ages: 5-9 (beginners)
  Time: 9:00-11:45am     Days: Monday-Friday

"New Stars" Program: This program is designed for our youngest players to develop all basic skills and to associate tennis with fun. Kids will learn and practice all stroke techniques, footwork and accuracy. Balls, equipment and court dimensions will be in accordance with USTA recommendations (QuickStart Tennis). A variety of fun and skill building games will be used to boost learning and enjoyment.

Ages: 7-18
Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm

Days: Monday-Friday (lunch included)

Full Day Camp: This program is uniquely designed to maximize the experience for young players of all ages and levels. Each day will consist of at least four hours of on court training, two hours of off court training, and lunch. Every camper will receive training in all aspects of the game, including stroke technique, footwork, strategy, fitness, and match play. From beginners to tournament players, all players will receive a customized curriculum to enhance their development.

The Michael Filipek Tennis Academy also specializes in training competitive tournament players and high school team members. Whether you are on your high school team or aspiring to be, whether you are currently a top ranked junior or are planning to start tournaments in the near future, the MFTA Day Camp is designed for young players to not only reach but go beyond their goals. This is accomplished by providing focus on the main factors that many young competitive players lack: match play experience, point construction, strategy, mental and emotional control.

At MFTA we teach players what to expect during competition and how to deal with each scenario that may arise on court during a match. Through practice matches, match charting, mental/emotional training and situational drills, players will come away from MFTA with an understanding of what is necessary to maximize their potential.

Extended Day Camp: 9am-6:30pm.  Day camp plus additional 60 minutes of tennis, extracurricular activities and followed by group dinner.  Available weeks two through five.
